Attorney Hakan Cindemir graduated from Kdz Eregli Ted college. He has completed his law licence degree at Istanbul University Faculty of Law. Dr. Gökhan Cindemir completed high school in Turkey before participating in the AFS Intercultural Exchange Program in 2002. As part of the program, he continued his secondary education in Brussels, widely regarded as the capital of the European Union. This early international experience fostered his interest in European Union law and broadened his academic and professional perspective.
He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2007. During his studies, he represented Marmara University in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, one of the world’s leading international law competitions.
Following his admission to the Istanbul Bar Association in 2008, he began practising law at Cindemir Law Office. Including his legal internship, he has 19 years of professional legal experience.
Cindemir Law Office was established by his brother and law partner, Hakan Cindemir. While the firm was formally founded during the Republican era, it reflects a family legal tradition dating back to 1892. This tradition began with Hafız Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi, a distinguished Ottoman jurist who served as a judge in several provinces before being appointed Mutasarrıf (Governor) of Debre-i Bala in the Ottoman Balkans. Over the following generations, the family’s legal practice evolved into a firm serving both domestic and international clients.
In 2010, Dr. Cindemir obtained an LL.M. in European and Comparative Law from Ghent University in Belgium. His master’s thesis examined the Freedom of Establishment under the Ankara Agreement between Türkiye and the European Union.
He completed his military service as a lieutenant in the Legal Affairs Department of the Central Command Headquarters in Ankara in 2011.
In 2026, he was awarded a Ph.D. in European Union and International Trade Law by Istanbul Ticaret University. His doctoral dissertation focused on the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), analysing the legal classification of crypto-assets, regulatory compliance obligations, and supervisory mechanisms within European Union financial law.
His practice focuses on private international law, European Union law, crypto-asset regulation, international business law, real estate law, foreigners’ law, personal injury and tort law, family law, and criminal law.
Dr. Cindemir is fluent in English and has working proficiency in Dutch and French, together with intermediate knowledge of Russian.
He is the author of Introduction to International Advocacy, published through Amazon. His doctoral dissertation was published as a book in 2026 under the title The European Union Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation by Yetkin Publishing.
